Educational Outreach through Student Competitions
New Associate Fellow Nominations Encouraged
Society-Level Offices for 2007
During STC’s 53rd Annual Conference in May, Society past president Suzanna Laurent announced the winners of the annual community achievement and pacesetter awards. These awards honor STC chapters and special interest groups (SIGs) that have distinguished themselves.
The community achievement awards recognize exceptional accomplishments in fulfilling the goals of STC.
To earn awards of Merit and Excellence, communities complete key activities and apply for recognition to the community achievement awards evaluation committee (CAAEC). A community that earns an Excellence award may also apply for recognition as a Chapter or SIG of Distinction. After reviewing applications and nominations from the CAAEC, the STC board of directors selects the Communities of Distinction. (Only one Community of Distinction recipient is selected for each of the size categories established at the beginning of the fiscal year.) The 2005–2006 community achievement award recipients are listed below.

The community pacesetter awards recognize STC communities for highly innovative and successful activities. In contrast to the achievement awards, which recognize exceptional strength across many activity types, the pacesetter awards are designed as one-time celebrations of excellence in the specific activity for which the community is nominated. Chapters are recommended for the award by their regional director; SIGs are nominated by the SIG advocate on the STC board of directors. The 2005–2006 community pacesetter award recipients are listed below.
