Mailings from the STC Office

■ In September, chapter presidents were sent an e-mail describing the associate fellow nomination and evaluation procedures. Nominations are due by October 22, 2006.
■ In late September, chapter presidents and student chapter advisors were mailed a list of new senior members.
■ In early October, applications for STC’s honorary fraternities Sigma Tau Chi and Alpha Sigma will be mailed to heads of university technical communication departments.
■ Also in early October, scholarship materials will be mailed to all schools and universities offering programs in technical communication, the STC Board of Directors, chapter presidents, and chapter newsletter editors. Chapters are encouraged to publicize this information in their chapter newsletter.

Community Leaders’ Monthly Reminders

■ Conduct a local membership drive. Promote STC’s fall discount with brochures and applications that will be mailed to chapter membership managers in October.
■ If you are participating in the STC newsletter competition, remember that the completed entry form and two copies of the first issue must be postmarked by October 15, 2006. Subsequent issues must be postmarked by January 10, 2007.
■ Submit names of qualified candidates for the rank of associate fellow to the Society office by October 22, 2006.
■ If you generate your own labels, verify that your mailing list is up to date and includes the STC second vice president, the director of your region, and the STC office.
