As your chapter begins organizing its process for receiving entries in the International Technical Publications, International Technical Art, and International Online Communication Competitions, you might consider setting up a competition judging exchange with another chapter. Guidelines posted on the STC Web site detail the advantages and challenges of this type of exchange and provide tips on how to organize an exchange.
As the STC competition season swings into gear, many chapters wish to obtain mailing labels for members of other chapters. The following procedures have been established to ensure that chapters can get the appropriate mailing labels.
Let’s say your chapter is holding a competition and you’d like to solicit entries from members of a nearby chapter that is not holding a competition. First you must ask the nearby chapter’s president if he or she has no objections to your chapter using the desired mailing labels.
Then send an e-mail to Lynn Anderson, Membership Manager, copying the nearby chapter’s president. Simply request that the labels be sent to you.
Please make sure that competitors know that a specific entry may be entered in only one chapter’s competition.
STC’s traveling exhibits of 2007 competition winners contain examples of the very best in technical communication. To reserve the exhibits for your chapter, mail or fax an exhibit request form to the STC office. Reservations are made on a first-come, first-served basis. Please contact Lloyd Tucker, Director of Membership and Education, at +1 (571) 366-1904 or lloyd@stc.org with any questions.
