To give added value to distinguished service award recipients and the technical communication profession, the Society is offering a letter for companies, organizations, or clients of distinguished service award recipients signed by STC President Linda Oestreich and Executive Director Susan Burton. The letter template, available on the STC Web site, contains information about the Distinguished Service award, how a distinguished service award winner contributes to an organization, the STC mission, and membership information.
The idea originated from the Society’s SIGs, where the opportunity for local recognition often doesn’t exist. The letters are a win-win-win for recipients, STC, and employers who learn about valued technical communicators.
If you submitted someone for consideration for a distinguished service award, consider working with your award recipients to provide a letter. If you are an award recipient, consider working with your submitter to provide a letter.
To provide a letter, download the Word template from the Society Web site at any of the distinguished service award Web pages: Distinguished Chapter Service Awards, Distinguished SIG Service Award, and Distinguished Service Award for Students.
Complete the template information and e-mail your final document to Lloyd Tucker, Director of Membership and Education. Lloyd will add electronic signatures for Linda and Susan and e-mail the letter back to you.
If you have any questions, contact Lloyd Tucker or Deborah Silvi, Chair, Distinguished Community Awards Committee.
