STC is pleased to announce the results of its 2008 election. Winning candidates are listed below.
Online voting concluded at 12 noon ET on April 14, 2008. Paper ballots had to be received by that date to be counted as valid votes. Of 8,953 eligible voters, 1,134 (12.67 percent) cast ballots. Vote totals appear on the STC Web site.
STC's new bylaws, adopted by the membership in August 2007, no longer require the officers in STC's presidential chain of succession-the incoming president and incoming first vice president-to stand for election. Therefore, incoming president Mark Clifford and incoming first vice president Cynthia C. Currie-Clifford did not appear on the ballot this year.
To fill the vacancies on the Board of Directors caused by the midterm resignations of STC directors Jeff Staples and Mike Murray, members elected five directors. The top three vote-getters among the director candidates-Lisa R. Pappas, Rich Maggiani, and Judith M. Herr-will serve full three-year terms (from June 2008 through May 2011). Hillary Hart and Rob B. Hanna will serve the remainders of Staples's and Murray's terms (until May 2009) and will be considered for placement on STC's 2009 preliminary slate of candidates.
Congratulations to the winners, and a special thanks to all candidates for their dedication to STC and willingness to devote their time and energy to improving the Society.
