Podcasting Speaker Programs for STC Communities By Joseph M. Humbert, Treasurer, Webweaver, and Immediate Past President, East Bay Chapter In June 2006, during the final chapter meeting before summer, I was installed as president of the East Bay Chapter STC in Northern California. I had recently seen a video podcast of a U.C. Berkeley physics class lecture and had thought about the possibility of podcasting our chapter programs. I asked our speaker at that final meeting if she was willing to have her program recorded for a podcast—and she agreed. Mailings from the STC Office

• In late November, the STC office e-mailed dues renewal invoices to all STC members who had not yet renewed (see “Renewal Invoices to be Mailed” in this issue).
• The Preliminary Program for STC’s 55th Annual Conference will be mailed in February.

Community Leaders’ Monthly Reminders

• Submit community status reports to the Community Status Reporting (CSR) team by January 2, 2008.
• If your community is participating in the STC Newsletter Competition and has already sent in the completed entry form and the first issue (due October 15, 2007), subsequent issues must be postmarked no later than January 11, 2008.
• The first 2008 meeting of STC’s Board of Directors will be held on January 11–12, 2008, in Arlington, Virginia.
• The deadline for your chapter to send entries to the Society-level Technical Publications, Technical Art, and Online Communication competitions is January 18, 2008.
• Students must submit completed applications for STC scholarships (offered in the 2008–09 academic year) by February 15, 2008.
• Please remind your community membership to pay dues by February 28, 2008 in order to be eligible to vote in the STC election.
• The deadline for your chapter to send entries to STC’s Public Relations Competition is March 4, 2008.
• The deadline for your chapter to send entries to STC’s International Student Technical Communication Competition (ISTCC) is March 15, 2008.
• The annual STC election will take place between mid-March and mid-April 2008. Ballots will be mailed in early March.
